Aloha!
This is the second email about Podcamp. If you signed up after October 9th and missed the first attendee email, no problem. We posted it here on the web site for everyone to have as reference.
Where is the Schedule?
We are still working on it! Lots of last minute interest has been showing up from all corners of Podcamp + Wordcamp. We'll send another email message as soon as it is ready for review. Part of the good news/bad news about a podcamp/wordcamp is that anyone can sign up to speak and the schedule is a work in progress up to and including the days of the events. If you have something to share, please add your name to the wiki.
Are you a business person?
We have a second special event on Thursday October 23 - the Social Media Workshop. We have 3 guest experts from San Francisco and Boston to talk about how businesses can use the social web. Case studies, dos and don't and a nice intimate place to ask questions and get personal advice for your business. Breakfast and lunch are included, and you will also receive a charter membership in the Social Media Club Hawaii Chapter. This is a professional group dedicated to sharing and developing best practices for social media and social networks.
What's going on Friday Night?
Tiki's Bar and Grill has invited us to their place! Please bring your Podcamp Badge for drink discounts, and look for the new drink (currently in development) "Podcamp Punch"!
What's going on Saturday Night?
Beach BBQ at Ala Moana Beach Pak, courtesy of Podcamp Hawaii! Ed Morita is organizing the goodies and the grill. Can you please let us know if you plan to attend? Of course, it's an 'ohana affair and your familes are welcome to join us. And if you want to bring something to share, please do.
Do you want some volunteers?
Yes we do. Thank you for asking. If you would like to help out for an hour or two we would love it! You can sign up on the wiki for times and dates that you are available.
Do you want musicians?
Yes we do! We now have a page to sign up and we also have designated time slots. We are looking for local artists who can play not too loud music so we have entertainment in the courtyard during morning registration, over lunch, and in the afternoon. This is a great opportunity for your band to get lots of attention, interviews, and possibly even video episodes to use later.
Do you want hula?
Yes we do. Our halau has a conflict so we are looking for dancers to help us open each morning, Friday & Saturday 9 am for about 5-10 minutes. Again, lots of people will be recording this and you will get free publicity. We are actively reaching out so please reply to this email or call me if your group wants to perform. If we have a lot of response, we can also schedule dances at lunch time too.
- Please put a badge on your blog for Podcamp.
- Please tag your posts with "pch08" and "podcamphawaii2008" so we can find you on the interwebs
- Please consider linking to our list of sponsors; provided below.
Are you on Twitter?
Please follow us and we will follow you back! @podcamphawaii If you don't know about Twitter, don't worry. We'll have a session on it.
What's happening in the Lounge?
We will have wifi, tables and chairs, and hopefully some mentors who can help others set up a free blog at wordpress.com, talk about social neworks, do audio and video interviews, maybe even nap! Podcamps are all about sharing, so we consider attendees and speakers and volunteers and organieres are all here to support each other in having a great event.
What if I have to Cancel?
Please reply to this email and we will cancel your registration for you. Thank you in advance! This helps us plan effectively.
How many are attending?
We don't know! We already have 350 registered. And Road Runner will be airing TV commercials for us over the next several days - keep an eye out so you can meet some of the Podcamp volunteers! (Thank you Road Runner!) You can also visit the main event page and scroll down to see the list. Just reply to this emai if you want your name to be hidden; we'll just use your initials.
