Welcome

Podsafe Music Available to You!

Jenn Wright (of Simple Souls, Mighty J, Kanalo, and MySpace) reached out all over and collected several songs for us to be able to use for making media. Please remember:
You must mention the artist and their website when you use this music - in the audio or video itself as well as adding a link [...]

The Event Schedule!

Thank you to everyone for all of your patience. I know this has been a long time coming. Normal conferences do the schedule and book the speakers very early on; we do the infrastructure building and relationship-building first, and spread the word to anyone who wants to speak.

You can view the spreadsheet online here. And [...]

Check out the Wiki!

Our PodCamp site has a wiki, which is a set of helpful pages that you can edit! Yes, that’s right, you.

A Wiki is a public area where anyone can edit a page or add a new page. It is an example of “crowd-sourcing” where members of the community add their own tips and information. It [...]

We’re accessible!

Working with the Hawaii Convention Center (HCC) and the Center for Disabilities Studies has been a joy! The HCC is an accessible facility for all people. Here’s a brochure from the Convention Center with more specific info. (Mahalo Traci!)

Come one, come all!

Don’t forget to check out our Wordcamp speaker Nathan Say, who will be talking [...]

Speaker and Session Information

At an UnConference, anyone can sign up to speak. We will be putting the agenda together over the next few weeks and will post it as soon as we have enough in place to show you.

If you want to speak, please add your name and info to the Speaker’s Page on the wiki:

Get Your Podcamp Hawaii T-Shirt!

T-shirts are one of the challenges of an unconference. They cost a lot. You have to order well in advance. People end up with the wrong size. People don’t show even tho you bought them a t-shirt. And it goes on and on.

“But people love their t-shirts!” you say. And we agree.

So we’ve come up [...]

You Can Attend For Free
In keeping with the original podcamp tradition, this year’s first event is FREE to attend!

We want to make sure that price is not a barrier, and to be in sync with so much of what the internet has taught us: free encourages collaboration and networking at an extraordinary [...]

Podcamp + Wordcamp Hawaii 2008 Wrap up

Well, it is almost too embarrassing to put up this report so many months after the event. Nonetheless, it is part of the plan and we want all of you out there to remember what an incredibly successful event this was! Plus, it’s never too late to add thanks to all those who helped [...]

What did the sponsors think of Podcamp?

Sure, most conferences focus on the attendees, the venue, the speakers. But we wanted to also focus on our sponsors. They each (large and small) have a custom landing page on our site, where they can speak directly to our audience and be part of the conversation that is the social web. They also experienced [...]

Message #2

The opening ceremonies at Podcamp and Wordcamp Hawaii

Photos credit: Chris Heuer.

The opening ceremonies to Podcamp and Workcamp Hawaii were, put simply, the very best opening to any *camp style unconference to date.

The morning started out with two traditional Hawaiian chants (called ʻoli) done by two local sisters, Haunani and ʻIlima Kauka, of Aloha Blessings. The first chant was asking for permission to [...]

Session: Using Video to Build Community

Flying all the way from Pennsylvania for the Social Media Club Workshop, Podcamp and Wordcamp Hawaii, I had no way to know whether or not my session would resonate with the attendees. I was incredibly happy when room 304B was standing room only, and didn’t empty once I began my session.

I thought, beyond just sharing [...]

ʻOhana Sponsor: N-D Mixx Productions

I love when the angels show up at the last minute, and D-J Mixx is one of them! Short story: wife of owner, @FranMagbual heard my pleas on Twitter and volunteered her husband’s services. They are bringing a sound system, so we can have music aka “mele” and make it super easy for local [...]

Press, Social Media, and other tales

Much mahalo to the press and to our friends for sharing the story of this event!

Erika Engle, of the Star-Bulletin understands the challenge:

PodCamp and WordCamp will pull eyeballs to Hawaii
Oct. 3, 2008

So how do you join in and market your business and engage your customers, promote your canoe club’s fundraiser, or play in the [...]
